We are so excited to welcome our new trustee, Rhys, to the AHL team. Rhys has been a long-term supporter of AHL, and we are sure that his experience and skills as a health librarian and Library Services Manager at the Morriston Hospital will bring huge value to the work of AHL in Sierra Leone.
We are so excited to welcome our new trustee, Fatmata K Jalloh, to the AHL Board of Trustees. Fatmata is an experienced Hospital Matron in Sierra Leone.
Welcome to Sheik, who joined the team in April 2021! Sheik is based in Makeni Government Hospital Resource Centre and is also supporting AHL staff in Bo and Kenema, and link-up libraries in Makeni and Freetown. You can find out more about Sheik on our "Meet the Team" page.
Thanks to all who have supported the construction of an educational Resource Centre at Makeni Government Hospital! The official opening took place in March 2021 - a huge thank you to all who participated in the opening ceremony!
We now look forward to seeing how the Resource Centre will contribute to the future of healthcare library services in Makeni. It provides a large space for study, as well as a group study room and toilet facilities.
33 boxes of books and 2 desktop computers were collected for shipping at the end of September 2020. These are going to the new Makeni Resource Centre, as well as Bo and Kenema Hospital Libraries. Thank you to Book Aid International and Oxford University Libraries (Radcliffe Science Library, Knowledge Centre, Cairns Library, Harris Manchester College, Christ Church College, Oriel College) for the amazing donations. Thank you also goes to Computer Aid International, and to our wonderful volunteer Sandro for setting up the computers!
AHL has been working with PCMH, ODCH and COMAHS, with support from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and our partners Book Aid International and Oxford Book Transplant, to open a shared maternity and paediatric library service, based at PCMH.
The shared library service officially opened to hospital staff and students in February 2020.
